Neighborhood Moms on Curfew Riots

These confident neighborhood mothers nip riots in the bud: 'It's a form of empowerment'

Why do riots break out in one city as a result of the corona measures and does it remain quiet elsewhere? According to youth workers and researchers, this is due to the quality of the neighborhood network. In this piece in De Volkskrant, Marie Rosenkrantz Lindegaard comments on the role of neighborohood moms in preventing violent escalation in the curfew riots of 2019, based on her research conducted together with Marly van Bruchem and several other network members.

Findings from this research was recently published in a Politie & Wetenschap report, authored by van Bruchem and Lindegaard, with Laura Hendriks and Kiki Bijleveld.
